My name is Emily McGinty and I have 5 years of work experience as a paralegal as well as a post-baccalaureate certification from Capital University Law School Paralegal Studies program. I am a proud graduate of Columbus City Schools; I attended Columbus Alternative High School and graduated in 2009. I then obtained my Bachelor's degree from Otterbein University and I have been accepted to the Ohio University Master's in Public Administration program starting summer of 2021.
I am proficient in Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook. I am also proficient in utilizing Adobe Pro for redactions, corrections, highlighting, rearranging and other features that Adobe Pro contains. I have experience in preparing pleadings, completing research, and working in multiple databases. I am a fast-learner and hard-worker and I can also learn on my own with training materials. I have worked in both the private and public sectors.
I eventually moved to the attorney assistant team as a paralegal for an Illinois attorney. We would work together to determine the schedule of hearings, what pleadings needed to be completed, I helped the attorney with special documents for hearings and litigation issues. I would also obtain local counsel for hearings that my attorney would not be able to attend due to being in court elsewhere. In addition to this role I would file notices of final cure for all of our states,
My second position was as a data entry clerk for all of the sales department. I would enter in contracts using the system that were agreed upon by the sales representative and the client. I would also use Excel to complete what were called rollouts, so if a company was having a new product rollout they would require specific equipment for these items. I would have Excel spreadsheets that I would upload into the system to create the orders for the different restaurants.
