My name is Emily McGinty and I have 5 years of work experience as a paralegal as well as a post-baccalaureate certification from Capital University Law School Paralegal Studies program. I am a proud graduate of Columbus City Schools; I attended Columbus Alternative High School and graduated in 2009. I then obtained my Bachelor's degree from Otterbein University and I have been accepted to the Ohio University Master's in Public Administration program starting summer of 2021.

I would check applications for completeness, inform them of what was missing, as well as request court documentation. I would scan and upload records to the database.

I worked multiple positions at MDK. One of the positions I worked was helping to create a quality control team for the bankruptcy department. We would check all the work on the pleadings going through to make sure the best product was brought before the attorneys.

I eventually moved to the attorney assistant team as a paralegal for an Illinois attorney. We would work together to determine the schedule of hearings, what pleadings needed to be completed, I helped the attorney with special documents for hearings and litigation issues. I would also obtain local counsel for hearings that my attorney would not be able to attend due to being in court elsewhere. I started out as the front door receptionist. I would answer phones, greet people, relay that vendors were at the office for their meetings with various people. I would also do clerical tasks that were able to be completed between answering phones.

My second position was as a data entry clerk for all of the sales department. I would enter in contracts using the system that were agreed upon by the sales representative and the client. I would also use Excel to complete what were called rollouts, so if a company was having a new product rollout they would require specific equipment for these items. I would have Excel spreadsheets that I would upload into the system to create the orders for the different restaurants.
